"Mary, Mary ~ Quite Contrary, How does your Garden grow? "…

When to the Lord’s Word, my life is contrary,

My Garden grows WEEDY & SEEDY & SCARY!

I find when I sow seeds of anger and strife,

I’m not a good sister, or mother, or wife.

The soil of my heart is thirsty and dry,

And instead of feeling joyful, I just want to cry!

The weeds in my Garden all have names; come and see!

This one is “Selfish”, and this: “Jealousy”.

Here is a tall one, I call it “Impatience”…

And in it’s cool shade grow “Rude” and “Annoyance”.

What can I do? I’m feeling quite sour…

All of these WEEDS have choked-out all my flowers!

Oh, Mary – you know, in your heart, what to do!

Turn to the Lord, and He will help you!

Go into the Word, and study it hard,

And God – the Great Gardener- will pull the weeds

                From your yard.

On the Soil of your Heart, pour the Water of Life ~

And you will find Peace, not anger and strife.

Now Mary is very Obedient and Sweet,

        Since sitting and learning at the Great Gardener’s feet;

She happily works in her Garden each day,

And she sows Seeds of Love as she goes on-her-way.

The Great Gardener helped Mary

      Turn her “GLOOMS” into “BLOOMS”!

        Her Garden’s much brighter,

Now that WEEDS do not Loom!

No more “Selfish” or “Jealous”~

Now there’s “Joy”, “Peace”, and “Goodness”…

And “Patience” is growing like a tall, strong tree!

(I’m hoping she’ll share some of those seeds with me!)

She dug-up her “Rude” and planted “Kindness” instead;

And it flows to where “Self-Control” grows,

                In a straight bed.

“Faithfulness” and “Gentleness” bloom all-in-a-row,

All Thanks to the seeds the Great Gardener

                Taught her to sow.

Now her Garden’s a Blessing to those far and near,

And Mary loves to give others her bouquets of cheer.

The moral of our story is quite simple, and goes:

        To reap Blooms of Blessing,

Seeds of Love you must sow!”
