Two Stones
A great stone poised, hovering over creation.
The sin stone ready to fall as just retribution
For the sins of man.
Dark, heavy, brooding,
Clouding the light, fouling the earth.
God in His mercy gave a set of laws,
Rolling the stone forward in time,
Pushing the heaviness of evil forward,
To meet the cross.
A second stone sealed a Savior’s tomb,
Rolled there by Roman guards to hold
The Son of God, a perfect sacrifice.
Dark and heavy lay the stone,
Holding the body of the crucified one.
Conquering death and bringing life,
God’s own Son, rolled the stone away,
Gaining victory over sin and evil
By meeting the cross.
