For
His Long Awaited Return
I
waited for my beloved's return.
I watched as time flew by, when candy bars cost a dime.
when night melted into day, I watched for Him and I
prayed.
I watched when ambers burned low and winter winds
chilled my soul.
When Spring came and the grass turned green, I watched
for the coming King.
I watched as the changing tide, children born and old
folks died.
As political scandals became the norm, I watched
sheltered from hurt and harm.
I watched in marriage and motherhood, knowing my Beloved
sought my good.
I watched in good times as well as bad, realizing in Him
just what I had.
I watched while at work or play, knowing He could come
any day.
I looked with eyes eagerly, for my Love to elope with
me.
I watched in garments that He brought, the finest robes
at such great cost.
I watch though it seems so late, I am the Bride at the
gate.
