Articles and Poems With A Spiritual Perspective

What Is Love?

Man is looking for the answer

But from the very start,

He can't seem to grasp it

In his head or in his heart.

For some it's a warm puppy

Or a homemade apple pie.

For others it's "never having to say your sorry"

Or giving "living together" a try.

No wonder we've become confused

As we ponder what true love is;

Is it a decision, or just a feeling?

Let's see what answer the Bible gives.

When Paul wrote to the Corinthians

He also wrote to us today

He said love is patient and kind

And doesn't have to have it's own way.

Yes, true love is not jealous

Does not brag or become puffed up

It bears all things, hopes all things and

Endures all things when the going's rough.

True love is not just a fuzzy feeling

Based on emotions that can fade.

It is a conscious, unselfish, decision

That we must daily make.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a........Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails
