What are you watching?

Every year, thousand of Christians are drawn back into the world. It is a constant battle for some, an addiction for others. It tears down the marriage bond, as well as the family structure, and warps people into thinking that what they see is reality. It gives people a sense of false security, and expectations of their spouses that rarely can be met. It takes the sacred vows of marriage beyond the bedroom, inviting strangers in for comfort, enjoyment and sinful lust.

What is all this about? What can it be? Some say, “it is just a man thing” or "it is supposed to help our marriage", or some even say, "I like to learn new things". I'm talking about pornography. It kills the soul. It is addictive, sinful, unrealistic, and demeaning to both men and women, creating lustful thoughts and ideas, promoting unhealthy life styles, and giving the green light to promiscuous behavior. It has torn down many a marriage, and has allowed the marriage bed to be defiled, permanently. Trust is broken down, which is always very hard to repair. It causes folks to "sneak" their addiction. Perhaps, even going beyond that and causing them to actually try to fulfill the demeaning, lewd, acts of adultery or fornication.

I have a very hard time accepting the idea "its just a man thing, it will pass." To think that a man would want his wife to do things that HE has witnessed others doing. He might not have been there in person, but he was there with his soul, mind and heart watching every move, every angle, and every expression created by Satan. The devil knows what gets us going. He knows what buttons to push to get your soul cast into eternal darkness.

Sex is not nasty. Within the marriage bond, it is beautiful, sacred, PRIVATE, and as close as two souls can be. In Hebrew 13:4 we read, "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” Also in Matthew 19:5-6, "And said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh. Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder." A man and his wife become united as one. Not to be of the world, looking into "other peoples bedrooms", for advice. Pornography pollutes the mind, soul and our relationship with God.

Why is it, the world hollers about religion in schools? It is considered being "a Jesus freak" if one says a prayer in public. However, everyday we are bombarded by porn on the bookshelves, billboards, and on television. The world puts its arms around these nasty portraits, calling it art, a personal expression, a meaning of true love. We wonder why there are so many acts of rape, incest, crumbling marriages, and people running around having children out of wedlock. Look at what is around us. The world is promoting such acts as normal, healthy, a way of life today.

It is a daily struggle being a Christian; doing what the Lord has asked of us. He has not asked us to do anything we cannot accomplish. The world may say differently, but we need to study his word DAILY for strength and guidance. The world is a big place, but with His love we can make it through.
