PROFILE OF A SAINT

Psalms 16: 1-3
“Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul,
you have said to the LORD, You are my Lord, My
Goodness is nothing apart from You. As for the saints
Who are on the earth, They are the excellent ones, in
whom is all my delight.”

Nita Marie Hammersmith is not only an accomplished writer she is a wife, mother of three, and grandmother of five. Nita has been a member of the Lord's church for over forty years.

Her career as a writer started in 1989 when she assisted a group of engineers as a ghostwriter for approximately four hundred and fifty children. The group of engineers, were charitable sponsors aiding companies in the welfare
and guidance of approximately 450 children around the world. Nita's contribution to this project was by writing Bible stories and illustrating pictures for the children. She collaborated with companies such as: World Vision, Help the Children, Compassion, Evangelical, and Hope.

In 1990, Nita spearheaded "The Meals on Wheels Program," in San Diego at the Church of Christ located at 61st and Division Street. Nita organized the cooking and the delivery of meals to members of her congregation who were shut in or recuperating from surgery.

Nita loves to sing. During her eleven years worshipping with the congregation at 61st and Division, she belonged to two singing groups: Sweet Voices of Harmony, and Spiritual Connection. While singing with Spiritual Connection, they competed for and won the 1994 McDonalds Gospel Fest. They were the only acappella group represented in this competition. Both groups performed at church functions and for the sick.

Nita and her husband Richard were chosen to head up a visitation team. The team was named the "Welcome Wagon," and was responsible for welcoming those people visiting the congregation for the first time.

Through out her years serving the Lord Nita has been teaching and participating in leadership roles for women's activities. Nita has served as discussion facilitator, panelist, motivational speaker, women's Bible class teacher, children's Bible class teacher, Christian Women's Seminar committee member, facilitator at family encampments, and keynote speaker at ladies day events, women's weekend retreats, and seminars.
Nita is a dynamic speaker. Nita's many years in the service of the Lord has given her a great deal of experience in tapping into the center of the topic for any audience. She has had many life experiences which she uses to catapult herself into the hearts of varied audiences. She has spoken to audiences as large as five thousand and as intimate as seventy-five.

Nita now writes for Christian Mirror Internet Magazine, Christian Woman Magazine, and Sisterhood Newsletter. Through her articles Nita has been encouraged, to start her own business: Nita Hammersmith Ministries for Women, Teens, and Children. Through her company she hopes to give women and children an opportunity to develop their writing skills and eventually become published authors. Nita has written five books and plans to finish others on her list by 2003.

Among Nita's books that are available now are: Help Me Lord, How to Choose a Mate for Life, Angels Are Real, The Little Town of Or Else, and the first of a series of Benny and Michael adventure series entitled Benny & Michael & Jonah & The Big Fish.

Nita and her husband Richard moved to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania in October of 2000. Richard serves, whenever needed, as a substitute preacher and they both serve as teachers and group leaders for fifteen of the families in the congregation.

Nita is a very passionate person and feels that God has blessed her with many gifts and talents. She strives to use those talents to His glory. It is her fervent desire to continue to serve Him in any capacity that He makes available. She is ever grateful for all the opportunities God has given her and continues to give God the Glory, because without Him she knows none of this would have been possible.
